Holiday messages to clients: text templates for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year

A good holiday message to clients is short, uses the client's first name, thanks them for something real and asks for nothing back. Below are 20 texts for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year that you can copy, plus how to send each client a separate message instead of starting a group chat.

We make Sendr, the app mentioned at the end of this guide. Every template here works in any messaging app, so you can use them without it.

What should a holiday message to clients say?

A holiday message to clients should do three things: greet the person by name, say one specific thank you, and wish them well. Two or three short sentences are enough for a text. Leave out offers and links, because a greeting that also sells reads like an ad.

One real detail does more than a polished sentence. Mention the project you finished, the house they bought or the season their team had. Sign with your own name too, since a client may not have your number saved.

In the templates, {first_name} and {company} are placeholders. Replace them by hand, or let an app fill them in for each client.

Thanksgiving messages to clients

A Thanksgiving message to clients should be about gratitude and nothing else. Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26, 2026, so send yours between Monday and Wednesday of that week. Clients are traveling and cooking by Thursday, and a text that arrives early gets read.

  1. Happy Thanksgiving, {first_name}! I'm grateful for your trust this year. Wishing you a slow, happy day with the people you love. [Your name]
  2. Hi {first_name}, thank you for being a client of {company}. We don't take it for granted. Happy Thanksgiving!
  3. {first_name}, working with you was one of the best parts of my year. Thank you, and enjoy Thanksgiving. [Your name]
  4. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at {company}, {first_name}. Thank you for choosing us again this year.
  5. Hi {first_name}, just a quick thank you before the holiday. Your referral meant a lot to me. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! [Your name]

Christmas and holiday messages to clients

Write Merry Christmas when you know the client celebrates it and Happy Holidays when you don't. Christmas 2026 falls on a Friday, so Monday to Wednesday of that week is the safest window. If your business closes, this is also the right text to share your dates.

  1. Merry Christmas, {first_name}! Thank you for a great year together. Wishing you and your family a peaceful holiday. [Your name]
  2. Happy holidays, {first_name}! Everyone at {company} wishes you a warm, restful season. Thank you for your support.
  3. Hi {first_name}, thank you for trusting me this year. I hope the holidays bring you rest and time with the people you love. [Your name]
  4. Happy holidays from {company}, {first_name}! We're closed December 24 to 27 and back on Monday the 28th. Enjoy the season!
  5. Merry Christmas, {first_name}! It was a pleasure working with you this year. See you in 2027. [Your name]

New Year messages to clients

A New Year message to clients looks both ways: thank them for the year behind you and wish them well for the next one. It also suits clients you missed in December. Send it between December 29 and January 2, and keep the plans for your business out of it.

  1. Happy New Year, {first_name}! Thank you for a great 2026. I'm looking forward to working with you in 2027. [Your name]
  2. Hi {first_name}, wishing you health and good news in 2027. Thank you for being part of {company} this year.
  3. {first_name}, as 2026 ends I just want to say thank you. You made this year better. Happy New Year! [Your name]
  4. Happy New Year from {company}, {first_name}! We're back on January 4 and happy to help with anything you need.
  5. Hi {first_name}, happy New Year! No agenda, I just hope 2027 treats you well. [Your name]

Holiday texts for real estate agents, salons and small businesses

The best holiday text for a small business refers to what you actually did for that client. A real estate agent can mention the new house, a stylist the regular visits, a coach the work they put in. Change one line of these templates for your own clients and they stop sounding like templates.

  1. Real estate: Happy holidays, {first_name}! I hope your first winter in the new house is a great one. Thank you for trusting me with the move. [Your name]
  2. Salon or barber: Hi {first_name}, thank you for sitting in my chair this year. Happy holidays, and see you in 2027! [Your name]
  3. Freelancer or consultant: {first_name}, thank you for the work we did together this year. Happy holidays to you and your team. [Your name]
  4. Coach or trainer: Happy holidays, {first_name}! You showed up all year and it paid off. Enjoy the break. [Your name]
  5. Local shop: Hi {first_name}, {company} wouldn't be here without customers like you. Thank you and happy holidays!

How to text all your clients without a group chat

Send each client a separate message. In a group text everyone sees the other numbers and every reply, which no client wants from a business. For a short list, paste the text into each conversation and change the name by hand. For a longer list, a mass text app does that for you.

On iPhone, Sendr sends each person their own message from your number, through the Messages app. Write the text once with {first_name}, pick contacts or a saved group, and read every message on the Review & Send screen, where you can edit any of them. Send One by One is free: Sendr opens a message for each client and you tap Send. With Pro, Send Automatically goes through the list for you after a one-time Shortcuts setup, as long as your iPhone stays unlocked. Afterwards a report shows who was sent the text and who wasn't. You can attach up to 3 photos or videos to iMessage and SMS, such as a holiday card. Sendr is iPhone only.

If your text may go out as SMS, stay under 160 characters. One emoji cuts that limit to 70, and a longer text splits into parts that your carrier can count as several messages.

Holiday dates and SMS limits checked November 2026.

Questions

When should I send holiday messages to clients?

Send them a few days before the holiday, during the day. On the day itself your text competes with everyone else's, and many people are away from their phones.

Can I put an offer in a holiday message?

Keep it separate. A greeting with a discount reads like an ad, and in many countries promotional texts need the client's prior consent. Check the rules where your clients live.

Is a text or an email better for a holiday greeting?

Text works for clients you already text with. For formal or corporate clients you only know by email, stay with email or a card.

How do I make a mass holiday text feel personal?

Use the client's first name, add one detail about your work together, and sign with your own name. Send it as a separate message to each person, so a reply comes back to your one-on-one thread.
